Claude gets into the car: With CarPlay integration, you can even ask AI questions while driving.

On October 29, Anthropic announced an update to the Claude mobile app, supporting iPhone, iPad, Android, Chromebook, as well as web and desktop platforms. A key highlight is the integration of the iPhone version’s voice mode with Apple CarPlay, allowing drivers to ask AI questions hands-free—perfect for checking routes, finding information, and organizing thoughts during commutes. The in-car use case is seen as the most imaginative aspect of this upgrade.

On October 29, Anthropic rolled out a wave of mobile app updates on X, expanding Claude into more use cases. The most eye-catching feature is the official integration of the iPhone version’s voice mode with Apple CarPlay. From now on, when you get into your car, you can simply speak to AI without removing your hands from the steering wheel—checking directions, searching for information, or organizing your thoughts all done via voice commands during your commute.

This update covers iPhone, iPad, Android, Chromebook, as well as web and desktop platforms, with the in-car experience clearly being the most imaginative application. For Anthropic, extending voice capabilities to the driver’s seat means capturing another high-frequency, hands‑occupied interaction channel beyond Siri and Google Assistant. The company also teased that iPhone and iPad will soon support pull-down search, enabling users to quickly browse past conversations and projects, jump into settings, and perform actions directly.

A major mobile release

The tablet and foldable screen experience is also aligning with the desktop: On iPad and iPhone Duo, Claude-generated content no longer obscures the chat window, allowing side-by-side display and full-screen toggling as needed, so users can view documents, code, or designs while chatting; meanwhile, Android devices gain adjustable sidebars, right-click functionality on touchpads, and desktop‑style keyboard shortcuts on large screens and foldable devices. At the account level, iOS and Android now support multiple simultaneous logins and one-tap switching between accounts. Language and voice capabilities are expanding in tandem: 24 new languages have been added, bringing the total to 33, with faster voice responses, improved recognition in noisy or quiet environments, more natural non-English speech, and broader compatibility across additional Android models.
