Shortly before October 26, 2026, Chen Wan, an independent developer specializing in paid research briefs on the new energy industry chain (including energy storage and the upstream and downstream sectors of lithium batteries), removed two core files that he had been maintaining for nearly two years: cleaner.py (responsible for web page content cleaning) and sites.yaml (which lists 387 verified financial news source URLs). This move marks the official end of his research agent’s era of manually maintaining web parsing rules and source whitelists, as it now integrates with Tencent Cloud’s upgraded Yuanbao Search API (SearchPro).
Before deleting it, Chen Wan conducted a comparative test of the overseas search API, a certain domestic API, and the Yuanbao Search API. The results showed that Yuanbao Search not only returns original exchange announcements, accurate publication times, and multiple related reports, but also provides two types of text summaries—standard overviews and relevant paragraphs extracted around specific issues. Its Freshness parameters (such as d1/d2) can directly constrain timeliness, while the Mode and Industry parameters enable precise filtering by domain and source type. Additionally, the authority_level field (rated on a scale of 0–5) offers a quantitative reference for source credibility. These capabilities directly address the pain points of its previous workflow: inaccurate date extraction, confusion over reprinted sources, and the difficulty of dynamically scaling to 387 URLs.
Yuanbao Search launched in 2025, originally known as the Tencent Cloud Internet Search API, with SearchPro as its flagship interface. In 2026, it was rebranded and continuously upgraded, now integrated with over 50 core internal Tencent products, handling hundreds of millions of calls per day. Its underlying search engine achieves an average latency of approximately 8 milliseconds, with full requests returning in as little as 300 milliseconds. It supports the MCP protocol (v2025-06-18) and SkillHub skills (tencent-yuanbao-standard-search), enabling developers to naturally trigger “latest earnings forecast”–type commands on terminals such as Claude, automatically invoking the service within 681 milliseconds and returning a response containing five authoritative results.
This API is designed for the called party and does not provide a standalone user interface. It offers three pricing tiers for enterprise users: the Express Edition at 14 yuan per thousand calls, the Standard Edition at 20 yuan per thousand calls, and the Flagship Edition at 26 yuan per thousand calls. The authority_level field is available only in the Flagship Edition. New users receive a monthly free quota of 6,000 calls. After Chen Wan integrated the API, the daily morning report’s information coverage remained stable, and follow-up inquiries about data sources were significantly reduced, allowing him to shift his focus from web scraping and source verification to cross-validation of key data, analysis of industry trends, and structuring research insights.
